Aside from pointing out how quickly pirating can rack up huge losses for any industry, the article also shines light on something that should be fairly obvious - most digital pirates are huge nerds. For a long time I've been against embryonic stem cell research, not only because of the way they are harvested, but because it has been practically useless. At risk of repeating myself, the facts are that adult stem cells have been seriously researched for about 10 years compared to about 30 years of embryonic research. I caught this segment on CNN this morning about Green Day's show opening on Broadway. At first I just thought it was foolishness. Of course Green Day wanted to be on Broadway. The band that pioneered the movement of selling out punk rock would do just about anything to make a buck (especially if they can wear eyeliner while doing it). But then I heard something that made me incredibly sad.
